Italy's IPLOM Refinery Restarting After Major Overhaul

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The 34,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Piedmontese Mineral Oil Processing Factory (Industria Piemontese Lavorazione Oli Minerali), also known as the IPLOM refinery, in the city of Busalla in Italy's Genoa province, is currently restarting operations after a major overhaul. The refinery is owned and operated by IPLOM SpA (Genoa).

The planned turnaround, which started October 2, involved the entire production facility. All main production units, including Topping, Vacuum, Hydrodesulphurization, Sulphur Recovery, Tail Gas Treatment and Hydrogen Production, have been offline since this time as the complex has only one production train. The shutdown lasted a total of 27 nonproduction days; units were brought back online November 7.
