Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--A 63-megawatt (MW) English Electric steam turbine unit is getting a major overhaul at the Queen Elizabeth Power Station in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The outage started in February and is scheduled to last until July of this year. The work includes the replacement of the lower pressure blade section, along with valves, pumps, bearings and other associated equipment.
Another three 25-MW Hitachi H-25 simple-cycle, peak-load combustion turbines are being constructed by the general contractor, Graham Construction (Saskatoon) and are scheduled to be operational by the end of this year.
