Meyersdale Windfarm Is Operational in Pennsylvania

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). On December 31, 2003, FPL Energy, LLC, a subsidiary of FPL Group (NYSE:FPL) started operation of its 30 megawatt (MW) windfarm in southwestern Pennsylvania.
The Meyersdale Windfarm consists of (20) 1.5MW wind turbines. This wind project cost more than $39 million and will produce enough electricity to power more than 12,000 homes in Somerset County near Meyersdale, Pennsylvania. FPL Energy, LLC provided the engineering and construction for this project and will be owner and operator of the windfarm. The windfarm will sell electricity to FirstEnergy Solutions, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corporation (NYSE:FE), under a long-term contract.
FPL Energy LLC is based out of Juno Beach, Florida. The company has 30 wind power plants in 10 states with approximately 1,700MW of generation capacity.
