Researched by Industrial Information Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--San Juan Generating Station, which is located in Water Flow, New Mexico, shut down its 361-megawatt (MW), coal-fired Unit 1 to repair a line that runs into the cooling tower. The station is owned by Public Service Company of New Mexico, a subsidiary of PNM Resources (NYSE:PNM) (Albuquerque, New Mexico).

Plant sources said that the unit was taken offline during inspections on other equipment, and the investigation continues. Officials are performing repairs while analyzing the situation. Based on progress to date, they believe the unit should return online by Monday, November 24, if there are no added delays.
The coal-fired plant has four generating units and a total capacity of 1,779 MW when at full load. Units 2 and 3 are online, generating at full capacity.
