Researched by Industrial Info Resources India (Delhi, India)--India's state-owned power producer NTPC Limited (BSE:532555) (New Delhi, India) is scouting for a vendor to supply and install two 660-megawatt (MW) Steam Turbine Generator set at its Tanda Thermal Power Station. NTPC has floated a global tender for this purpose. The power major intends to finance this package through both external commercial borrowings and the company's internal resources.
Tanda power plant is located near Tanda town in the Ambedkar Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh. The plant currently has an installed generation capacity of 440 MW through four units which got operational in 1980's.
According to NTPC, the scope of work for the contract will involve the design, manufacture, engineering, supply, erection, testing, commissioning and performance testing of two Steam Turbine Generator units. The Bidder will also be responsible for supply of lube oil and control oil system, unit and central oil purification system, turbine gland sealing system, turbine integral and other miscellaneous piping, generator seal-oil system, generator stator and rotor cooling system, generator excitation system, water-cooled condensers, control and instrumentation system for turbine generators, necessary cables, commissioning and performance testing of equipment along with the supply of special maintenance tools and tackles, erection materials and consumables as well as mandatory spares.
As per the pre-conditions laid down by NTPC, to qualify for this contract, a bidder must have designed, engineered, manufactured, erected, commissioned at least one Steam Turbine of tandem compound, condensing, reheat type of 500 MW or above capacity with minimum main-steam pressure of 225 kg/cm2 and reheat temperature of 535 degree Celsius and at least one generator of two pole thermal class, winding insulation, hydrogen or water-cooled stator and rotor of 500 MW or above capacity. These steam turbines and generators should have been in successful operation for a period of not less than one year prior to the date of techno-commercial bid opening.
Additionally, in terms of financial standards, the average annual turnover of the Bidder, in the preceding three financial years as on the date of techno-commercial bid opening, should not be less than $34 Million. The bid documents will be available for sale until September 9, 2013. The last date of submission of bids for this package is September 25, 2013.
Coal requirement for the project has been estimated to be 6.5 million tons per annum (MTPA), which will be sourced from the Chatti-Bariatu and Kerandari captive coal blocks of NTPC, located in the North Karanpura coalfields, about 600 km off the project site. The plant will meet its water requirement of 4,350 cubic meters per hour from Tanda canal on the Saryu river.
