Orange Juice Processor Invests $25 Million in New Storage Facility

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Cutrale Citrus Juices USA (Auburndale, Florida), a subsidiary of Sucocitrico Cutrale S.A. (Araraquara, Brazil), is planning to build an orange juice storage and export terminal in Tampa, Florida, at the Port of Tampa.

The company's plans call for a highly mechanized facility that may initially include six refrigerated storage tanks of 1 million gallons each and, ultimately, two additional tanks of the same size. The facility will be able to move at least 110,000 tons of juice, or about 27.5 million gallons, annually with plans to ramp up to 300,000 tons, or 75 million gallons, eventually. Cutrale plans to export products to markets in Asia and Europe. Construction on the facility is set to begin this summer and is expected to be fully operational early 2011.

The location of the facility is at Hookers Point Berth 205, on a 2.7-acre site and near the Tampa Juice Service terminal.

Cutrale's operations in Florida include processing and packaging facilities in Leesburg and Auburndale that were purchased from Minute Maid in 1996.
