Plainview Bioenergy's Texas Ethanol Plant Now Fully Operational

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Plainview Bioenergy LLC's (Plainview, Texas) Plainview ethanol plant is now fully operation, grinding corn and producing fuel ethanol. The project took a long time to get to this point, and plant construction was originally started by grain handling company Scoular Company (Omaha, Nebraska). White Energy Holding Company LLC (Dallas, Texas), which owns Plainview Bioenergy, acquired the rights to the project in October 2006 and continued construction through April of this year when the plant officially went online back on April 17, 2008.

With the Plainview plant online, White Energy now dominates ethanol production in the Texas Panhandle region with a sister plant, White Energy Hereford, also operating. The company now has the capacity of producing 200 million gallons of ethanol per year from both plants.

The nameplate 100 million-gallon-per-year plant utilizes ICM Incorporated (Colwich, Kansas) licensed ethanol process technology and was built by Fagen Incorporated (Granite Falls, Minnesota). Scoular is still tied to the project and will handle all of the estimated 38 million-plus bushels per year of inbound corn and milo to feed the plant. It will also market the distillers dried grains produced at the plant.

The estimated $150 million plant employs about 40 full-time employees and adds an annual economic impact of $100 million to the local economy. The plant is located at 2698 E. U.S. Highway 70 in Plainview about 50 miles north of Lubbock.
