Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Producers Choice Soy Energy LLC (Moberly, Missouri), an investor-owned renewable-fuel start-up, is fighting the elements to complete construction and start-up of a combine soybean crushing and biodiesel manufacturing plant by March 1, 2009, the deadline set by Missouri's Department of Agriculture to be producing biodiesel in order to qualify for a 30-cent-per-gallon incentive over the first five years of operation.

The estimated $17 million plant began construction in May 2008 and contractors are braving through cold weather in the area to keep the construction schedule on track. The plant is being built by Process Concepts Industrial Constructors (Pevely, Missouri).

Once in operation, the Producers Choice plant will manufacture 5 million gallons per year of biodiesel from soybean that will be crushed on-site and generate about 65,000 tons per year of soybean meal. The plant also has the flexibility of blending animal fat to produce the fuel.

The plant is located near the intersection of U.S. Highway 24 and Business Highway 63 in Randolph County. The plant will also bring an estimated 20 new jobs to the rural community.
