PURAC America, Caravan Ingredients Merge into Corbion Purac, with Georgia Facility on the Way

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Purac America recently merged with sister company Caravan Ingredients and took on the name Corbion NV (Diemen, The Netherlands). The new Corbion remains a global leader in lactic acid, associated products and derivatives. It operates under the transitional name Corbion Purac America (Lenexa, Kansas).

Corbion Purac's plant is under construction. The company is repurposing an existing 60,000-square-foot building in Tucker, Georgia, to manufacture resorbable polymers for the Pharmaceutical & Biotech Industry. After the project is completed this spring, the company plans to continue to expand the plant through a new, $2 million production line addition this year and a possible $20 million expansion over the next several years.

With the completion of the new plant imminent, the company is turning to plant operations. Long-term service agreements are to be established with contractors that will embed a couple of employees onsite to handle all daily maintenance.

Corbion Purac operates an additional U.S. plant in Blair, Nebraska.
