Rail Car Maker Chooses Louisiana for $80 Million Plant

Union Tank Car currently operates plants in both Louisiana and Texas. This announcement is the largest grassroot industrial manufacturing plant in over a decade for the state of Louisiana.

The plant will be constructed on a 140-acre site adjacent to the England Industrial Air Park, and is expected to be between 800,000 and 1,000,000 square feet.

When complete, the facility will have the capacity to complete 70 tank cars per week. Construction is expected to begin in late 2004 and the plant is expected to be operational 2006.
