The combined-cycle power station will feature two dual-fuel DLE GE LM6000 gas turbines, waste heat boilers, and a steam turbine with an air-cooled condenser. Currently, Clough is doing the final engineering and design studies and is finalizing the contracts to begin the work immediately on site. Clough plans to finish the job within 12 months.
The project has a total investment value (TIV) of $356.4 million.
Clough replaces Forge Group (Perth) as the engineering, procurement and construction contractor (EPC), after Forge went into receivership. Forge had completed 30% of the work on the project when it entered receivership.
After a series of discussions with potential contractors, Rio Tinto finalized the contact with Clough to design the power station and provide procurement services.
BHP Billiton (NYSE:BHP) (Melbourne, Australia), which also had engaged Forge as a subcontractor to build its 120-MW power plant in Yarnima, is wrapping up the project with the EPC firm WorleyParsons Limited (North Sydney).
