Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Russian Investors are planning the construction of a 130-megawatt (MW) combined-cycle power station in the Alttroeglitz Industrial Park in the German county of Saxony-Anhalt. The company, known as GuD Zeitz GmbH (Roedermark, Germany), is a subsidiary of Sintez Holding Company (Moscow, Russia) and is responsible for the project management in Germany. Sintez is planning to invest 152 million euros ($215 million) in the new utility.
Istroenergo Group (Levice, Slovakia) has already been selected as the general contractor responsible for the selection of subcontractors, engineering, and construction of the power plant. Excavation work is planned to start in late summer 2010, after finishing the preliminary engineering. At the moment, the project team is seeking subcontractors for civil and steel works. Construction is planned to start in February 2011, with completion set for June 2012. The main equipment will consist of two 50-MW combustion turbines with heat recovery steam generators and one 30-MW steam turbine. Before Istroenergo can begin construction, the soil must be rehabilitated from contamination caused by a former plant at this site that produced diesel fuel, engine oil, lubricants and paraffin.
The new power station will replace the existing lignite-fired power station that provides the industrial park with steam and energy. The 110-MW Mumsdorf power station, owned by the Central German Brown Coal Company (Theissen, Germany), plans to close at the end of 2012. Mibrag has plans to construct a modern lignite-fired power station, but has not been able to find investors.
Sintez Holding consists of a group of companies involved in oil and gas exploration and production, oil refining, and oilfield services and energy. In Russia it owns various power plants that generate 2,600 MW of energy and 12,000 MW of heat.
