Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The environment impact assessment (EIA) report for Tongling Nonferrous Metals Group Company Limited's (Tongling, Anhui) Shaxi Copper Ore Mine & Concentrator has been submitted and accepted by the Ministry of Environment Protection (MEP) on November 7, 2012, according to an announcement from the MEP on November 9. The project has entered the stage for final calls on public participation.
The Shaxi Copper Ore Mine & Concentrator is located in Nihe Town in the south of Lujiang County. The copper ore mine mainly comprises Tongquanshan and Fengtaishan, two mining sections. Anhui Tongguan Lujiang Mining Company Limited (Hefei, Anhui), a subsidiary of Tongling Nonferrous, is responsible for the construction and future operations of the project. The project is mainly comprised of the underground mining facilities, copper ore processing facilities, auxiliary facilities, comprehensive service area and tailing pond.
According to the design, the project will have the capacity to exploit and process 3.3 million metric tons per year of copper ore to produce 77,200 metric tons per year, or 234 tons per day, of copper concentrate. The copper content is 20% with a recovery rate of 91%, and the associated gold and silver content is 12.83 and 104.7 grams per ton, respectively. As per design, the copper mine has a service life of 23 years, excluding a four-year construction period.
The copper ore mine will be adopted with a large-diameter, deep-hole, staged excavation underground mining method, with an afterward fill. Excavated ore will be lifted from the main shaft to a coarse ore warehouse, prior to conveying it to the concentrator. The beneficiation process includes primary separation, secondary selection and final flotation. The tailings will be concentrated to fill the excavated space underground first, and the surplus will be transferred to the tailing pond, which has a valid capacity of about 14.76 million cubic meters.
