TransGas Planning a New Natural Gas Storage Facility in Canada

TransGas Limited (Regina Saskatchewan) is planning to develop a new underground natural gas storage facility near Regina in Saskatchewan. The planned $45 million salt dome storage structure, as envisioned, will be built in phases and will have a storage capacity of 10 Bcf of natural gas, with a withdrawal and injection rate of 500 mmscfd and 300 mmscfd, respectively. Phase I will entail the leaching of four one Bcf storage caverns and surface facilities will include a five kilometer pipeline lateral to interconnect with TransCanada's mainline and an 8,000-12,000 horsepower turbine based compressor station.

In a separate storage project, TransGas Limited is in early site preparation to construct a wash plant for solution mining of a new three Bcf salt cavern storage structure near Saskatoon Saskatchewan, including a new 1,200 horsepower reciprocating two stage compressor station to maintain the designed 2,600psig.
TransGas Limited is a subsidiary of the crown owned SaskEnergy Incorporated (Regina Saskatchewan) and its core business includes the gathering, transportation, compression and storage of natural gas in the province of Saskatchewan Canada.
