Val-E Ethanol Breaks Ground on $75 Million Fuel Ethanol Plant in Nebraska

Val-E Ethanol LLC (Windsor, Colorado) has begun construction this week on a new $75 million fuel ethanol plant five miles southeast of Ord, Nebraska in Valley County. Plans call for the creation of a nameplate 45 million gallons per year fuel ethanol plant that will convert about 16 million bushels of corn annually into the renewable fuel. The plant will also produce an estimated 192,000 tons per year of dried and wet distiller’s grains, a by-product of ethanol production used as a feed additive.

The company selected Fagen, Incorporated (Granite Falls, Minnesota) as the design-build contractor for the plant and construction is expected to take about twelve to fourteen months to complete. The official groundbreaking ceremony took place Monday, December 5, 2005.

Once the facility becomes operational, it’s expected to create about 35 full-time jobs.

With the addition of the Val-E Ethanol plant, the state of Nebraska currently has over 291 million gallons of annual ethanol capacity under construction through five plants and eleven operational plants in the state can produce over 500 million gallons of ethanol annually. Eight additional plants in the state are in various stages of early development that could grow Nebraska’s capacity for producing ethanol to over 1.1 billion gallons annually by early 2008.
