Wise County Power Company LLC (Poolville, Texas), a subsidiary of Tractebel SA (Brussels, Belgium), has completed construction and startup testing for the $350 Million Wise County Merchant Power Station located in Chico, Wise County, Texas (Plant 1043281, PEC 01007582).
Construction for the 700 megawatt (MW) project started in September 2001 and is expected to begin full commercial operation in May 2004. Wise will operate in a 2-on-1 combined cycle configuration consist of two 235 MW natural gas fired Siemens Westinghouse Power Corporation W501G combustion turbine generators, two Nooter Erickson heat recovery steam generators (HRSG's) equipped with duct burners, and a single 240 MW Siemens Westinghouse Power Corporation condensing steam turbine generator. The project will also feature state-of-the art air emissions-reduction technology including selective catalytic reduction (SCR) for the control of NOx emissions and the use of catalytic oxidation for the control of CO emissions.
Parsons Energy & Chemical Group headquartered in Reading, Pennsylvania performed the engineering for the project. The Industrial Company (TIC) based in Steamboat, Colorado was the general contractor for the project.
