Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--American Electric Power Company Incorporated's (NYSE:AEP) (Columbus, Ohio) 161-megawatt (MW) Unit 3 at the Conesville Power Station in Conesville, Ohio, was shut down on Monday, August 22, because of rotor problems.
Earlier this year, the unit had a planned major maintenance outage that lasted from April to June. Plant officials said that the unit had been experiencing rotor issues since the outage and that they had been analyzing the cause in order to perform repairs.
Plant sources were not certain if the rotor had experienced cracking, but stated that the rotor will be sent off-site for repairs. The unit will be offline for a little more than two months and is scheduled to return online around October 31 if there are no delays.
The Conesville plant has four generating units and a total generating capacity of 1,886 megawatts.
