The industrial facility had a total investment value of about $200 million. The plant initially will have the capacity to process 9,000 tons of sugarcane per day, to produce 800,000 liters of fuel ethanol and 40 megawatts (MW) of electric energy by burning the bagasse. During the 2011 campaign, the plant will see these capacities doubled. There are not yet any plans to produce sugar at this facility.
ETH Bioenergia is the biofuels company of engineer and constructor Odebrecht S.A. (Salvador, Brazil), and developed five sugarcane-processing projects clustered in three states: Sao Paulo, Goias and Mato Grosso do Sul. In 2010, the company acquired the assets of Brenco-Companhia Brasileira de Energia Renovavel (Sao Paulo), becoming one of the biggest sugarcane-processing companies in Brazil. The Mineiros project originally was to be developed by Brenco.
