Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) (Chennai, India), a subsidiary of Indian Oil Corporation Limited, plans to expand the capacity of the Cauvery Basin Nagapattinam Refinery by mid-2026.
The expansion will increase the refining capacity from 210,000 barrels per day (BBL/d) to 390,000 BBL/d.
The Nagapattinam Refinery was mothballed in April 2019. The old 20,000-barrel-per-day crude oil distillation unit (CDU) will be replaced by a new 180,000-BBL/d CDU. The expansion also will feature a new delayed coker, fluid catalytic cracking unit (FCCU), Indmax gasoline hydrodesulfurization unit, diesel hydrotreater, naphtha hydrotreater, reformer, isomerization unit, polypropylene unit, vacuum gasoil hydrotreater and associated units.
