Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The environment impact assessment (EIA) report for Guodian Taizhou Power Generation Company Limited's (Taizhou, Jiangsu) 2,000-megawatt (MW) Taizhou Power Plant Phase II secondary reheating coal-fired demonstration project recently received approval from the Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP), according to an announcement from the MEP on July 9, 2013.
Invested by Guodian Jiangsu Power Generation Company Limited (Nanjing, Jiangsu), a regional subsidiary of China Guodian Corporation (Beijing), the Guodian Taizhou Power Plant is located in Fusha Village, Yonganzhou Town, Gaogang District of Taizhoug City, in eastern China's Jiangsu province. The power plant has a total planned capacity of 4,000 MW that is to be built in two phases; two 1,000-MW, coal-fired units for Phase I were commissioned in December 2007 and March 2008.
According to the approval, the Phase II project will be furnished with two 1,000-MW, ultra-supercritical secondary reheating condensing coal-fired generating units, together with two 2,639-ton-per-hour, ultra-supercritical, direct-through, coal-pulverized boilers. Both units will be shared with a 240-meter-high chimney furnished with limestone-plaster wet flue gas desulfurization (FGD), a selective catalyst reduction (SCR) denitration device, an electrostatic dust remover with a high-frequency power supply, plus a low-temperature coal saver and wet electrostatic dust-remover, and a continuous emission monitoring system. Total investment in the project will be about $1.39 billion, of which about $313 million will be used for environmental protection.
In May 2012, the project received approval from the National Energy Administration to kick off pre-stage preparation. The main turbine, generator and boiler equipment of the project was awarded to Shanghai Electric Corporation (Shanghai) in September 2012.
As a secondary reheating coal-fired demonstration project, construction of the project kicked off in June 2013. According to the schedule, both units of the project will begin operations in the second half of 2015.
