Coca-Cola Enterprises to Expand Florida Plant, Contractor Identified

Orlando Coca-Cola Bottling Company (Orlando, Florida), a division of Coca-Cola Enterprises Incorporated (NYSE: CCE) (Atlanta, Georgia), has selected a contractor for an expansion of their Orlando, Florida soft drink bottling plant. With $50,000 of help from the city of Orlando, in the way of development and impact fees being waved, Coca-Cola is planning to invest about $8 million in a plant expansion to meet a growing demand for Coca-Cola products in Central Florida.
The project will add about 128,000 square feet of space to the existing 214,114 square foot building located at 2900 Mercy Drive in Orlando and will be followed by the installation of a new hi-speed bottling line and truck maintenance shop.
Coca-Cola has hired Current Builders (Pompano Beach, Florida) as the design-build contractor and construction is scheduled to begin early 2004.
Construction is expected to take roughly ten months to complete and the company will hire an additional 15 employees when the new area begins soft drink production.
The Orlando plant currently produces about 34 million cases of Coke, Diet Coke, Vanilla Coke and Sprite products annually.
