ConocoPhillips' Lake Charles Units Brought Back Online

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--On February 1, ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP) (Houston, Texas) was forced to perform an unplanned shutdown at the company's Lake Charles Refinery in Westlake, Louisiana.

The 60,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Crude 2 (Sweet) Unit and the Thermal Cracking Unit were shut down due to issues caused by the recent below-freezing temperatures. The company was able to restart the units the following day.

Separately, the 122,000-BBL/d Crude 3 Unit, the 55,000-BBL/d Diesel Hydrotreater 4 and the 24,000-BBL/d HDS 5 Kerosene Hydrotreater will begin a planned 14-day minor maintenance turnaround on Friday, February 4.

The 15,000-BBL/d Premium Coker 1 will also undergo minor maintenance work during this time, but will operate at 50% capacity. All repairs should be completed by February 17.

Annual tank farm maintenance at the refinery will begin in March and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
