Construction Begins on $25 Million Auto Parts Distribution Center in Tennessee

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Nissan North America Incorporated (Franklin, Tennessee) has started construction on a $25 million national parts and re-distribution center to be built in Mount Juliet, Tennessee.

Nissan plans to construct a 720,000-square-foot facility on a 59-acre site that will include a 20,000-square-foot office building and allow the company to relocate existing operations from two Rutherford County facilities. The new center will supply all of Nissan's other North American parts warehouses and serve as an export facility for overseas distribution operations. The facility has been designed for future expansions of up to 1.2 million square feet and will feature loading dock capabilities on all four sides of the building for improved operational efficiency. The center will accommodate 275 truck trailers around the building perimeter. Construction started in May 2009, and overall completion is slated for April 2010.

Opus Architects & Engineers (Hopkins, Minnesota) was selected to provide architectural and engineering services for the new center, and Opus Northwest LLC (Minnetonka, Minnesota) was selected to provide general construction services.

Nissan North America Incorporated, founded in 1990 in Franklin, Tennessee, is a subsidiary of Nissan Motor Company Limited (OTC:NSANY) (Tokyo, Japan), which included over 180,000 employees and annual sales of $109 billion as of 2008. Nissan North America has plants located in the U.S., Mexico and Canada. The company distributes and sells Nissan's electric and gasoline-powdered forklifts.
