Contractor Awarded and Site Preparation Underway on Wood Cabinet Manufacturing Plant in Utah

Kraftmaid Cabinetry, Incorporated (Middlefield, Ohio), a subsidiary of Masco Corporation (NYSE:MAS) and a leading manufacturing of built-to-order cabinetry, has awarded the general construction contract to Robinson Brothers Construction, Incorporated (Draper, Utah) for a new $106 million wood cabinet manufacturing plant in West Jordan, Utah.

Site preparation began in September 2005 to prepare for building construction in December 2005 on a 840,000 square-foot manufacturing plant. Located on a 76-acre site, the new plant will produce up to 6,000 hardwood cabinets per day at full capacity and approximately 1,300 new jobs will be created. Completion of the new plant is anticipated for the fall of 2006, with production starting in January 2007. Pasker Gould Ames & Weaver, Incorporated, located in Salt Lake City, Utah, provided architectural services for the new plant.

Earlier this year, Kraftmaid completed a $25 million capacity increase by expanding three of the company’s manufacturing facilities in Northeast Ohio, adding production space and increasing the number of employees.

Kraftmaid Cabinetry, Incorporated, headquartered in Middlefield, Ohio, was founded in 1969. The company was purchased by Masco Corporation in 1990. The company operates two plants in Middlefield, Ohio (one specializing in cabinetry parts milling, cabinet assembly, and shipping and the other specializing in frame construction, finishing and specialty part finishing) and a plant in Orwell, Ohio which specializes in finishing cabinetry doors and drawer fronts.
