Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Creek Power Limited (Vancouver, British Columbia), a joint venture of Innergex Incorporated (Vancouver) and Ledcor Power (Vancouver), has narrowed its choice for the builder of the proposed 74-megawatt (MW) Upper Lillooet Hydro Power Station to two contractors. The hydro facility is to be located in Pemberton, British Columbia.
The plant, which is estimated to cost $275 million, will include four 18.5-MW, horizontal Francis turbines; high-pressure steel penstocks; transmission lines; and an interconnection substation. Construction is scheduled to begin in April or May, with completion expected in 2017.
There are three contracts for the entire project: one for the 70-kilometer (44.7-mile), 230-kilovolt (kV), high-voltage transmission line; another for an electrical/mechanical contractor for the hydro plant; and another for a balance-of-plant contractor.
Westpark Electric Limited (Chilliwack, British Columbia) has been awarded the contract for the line. Construction is scheduled to begin this spring, with completion in 2016. Tender has not yet gone out on the switching station, and its construction is not expected to begin until after the summer.
