Danone Invests $100 Million To Build New Dairy In Colombia
In the new dairy plant, Danone plans to produce its Activia and Actimel yogurt brands, and estimates to employ 400 people for the operation.

Following the recent partnership between the dairy giant Group Danone (Paris, France) and Colombias largest dairy products distributor Alqueria, and continuing to strengthen its position in the Latin American fresh dairy market, the French yogurt manufacturer has announced that it will invest $100 million to build a new plant in Cajica, northern Bogotá.
In the new dairy plant, Danone plans to produce its Activia and Actimel yogurt brands, and estimates to employ 400 people for the operation.
Danone is the owner of brands such as Activia and Actimel; more than 6 million bottles are consumed daily around the world. It is a leading producer of fresh dairy products and packaged water; and the second largest producer of biscuits and cereal products. Danone´s portfolio of brands and products includes Evian, the worlds leading brand of bottled still water; Volvic, the groups other international brand of bottled still water; LU; Europes biscuits brand; Wahaha, the Chinese brand of bottled water; and Aqua, the Indonesian packed water brand.
The joint venture created February this year between Danone and Alqueria benefits both companies, Danone contributes with technology and marketing know-how and Alqueria cooperates in the production and distribution of fresh dairy products in Colombia.
