Dominion Completing Environmental Upgrades at West Virginia Power Station

Dominion Energy (Richmond, Virginia), a totally owned division of Dominion (NYSE: D) (Richmond, Virginia), is completing part of $1.2 billion air quality upgrades promised to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) at their 1662 megawatt (MW) coal-fired power station in Grant County, Mount Storm, West Virginia.

Dominion installed Marsulex Wet Flue-Gas Desulfurization (FGD) Scrubbers on Mount Storm units 1 & 2, which have been operational and reducing 95% of sulfur emissions since February 2002. Unit 3 already had an FGD. Units 1 and 2 are in the testing mode for NOx reduction, ABB Environmental Systems Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) units since May 2003 and should be commercial in June or July 2003. The SCR for Unit 3 is in construction with operations planned for first quarter of 2004 January or February.

Dominion is one of the nation's largest producers of energy. Dominion's portfolio consists of nearly 24,000 megawatts of electric power transmitted over 6,000 miles of transmission lines, 5.7 trillion cubic feet equivalent of natural gas reserves, 7,700 miles of natural gas pipeline and the nation's largest natural gas storage system with more than 960 billion cubic feet of storage capacity. Dominion had combined annual revenue that totaled $10.6 billion (2001); their assets consist of more than $35 billion plus annual operating cash flow exceeds $2.5 billion.
