Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--East China Electric Power Design Institute (ECEPDI) (Shanghai), a regional subsidiary of China Power Engineering Consultancy Corporation (CPECC) (Beijing), signed the survey and engineering contract for Jiangsu Huadian Qishuyan Power Generation Company Limited's (Changzhou, Jiangsu) 930-megawatt (MW) combined-cycle unit addition at the Qishuyan Gas-Fired Power Plant on April 24, 2013, according to an announcement from the CPECC on April 26.
The Huadian Qishuyan Gas-fired Cogeneration Power Plant, which is in the Qishuyan District of Changzhou City, in eastern China's Jiangsu province, is jointly invested by China Huadian Corporation (Beijing) and Jiangsu Guoxin Assets Management Group Company Limited (Nanjing, Jiangsu). The plant originally was a coal-fired power plant that dated back to 1921. In 2005, two 9F-class, combined-cycle units, each of 390 MW, were put into operation. Two 220-MW, combined-cycle units for a combined heat and power supply were commissioned in November and December 2011.
The current project is to have two additional F-class, combined-cycle units, each comprising a M701F4 combustion turbine, a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) and a steam turbine in single-shaft layout, so as to increase site capacity to 2,150 MW and to supply more power to the grid. The total investment in the project will be about $430 million. The supply contract for the main equipment has been awarded earlier to Dongfang Electric Corporation (Chengdu, Sichuan).
ECEPDI has long been involved in the construction of the Huadian Qishuyan Power Plant. The signing of the new engineering contract will further enhance the cooperation between ECEPDI and Qishuyan Power Plant.
Presently, the ECEPDI is working closely with the project owner to continue preliminary engineering, through detailed engineering of the project. According to the schedule, construction of the project will kick off later this year, and both units will begin operations in 2014.
