Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--German automotive parts manufacturer ZF Boge Elsmetall LLC, a subsidiary of ZF Group (Friedrichshafen, Germany), is expected to begin construction this month on an $18 million expansion in Hebron, Kentucky.
Plans involve expanding the existing 96,000-square-foot building by constructing a 52,000-square-foot addition to increase the manufacturing of control arm bushings, engine mounts and other rubber-metal automotive parts, and increase production by 50%. Construction should begin this month, and overall completion is slated for the fall of this year. Approximately 60 jobs will be created once the expansion is complete.
Viox & Viox (Erlanger, Kentucky) was selected to provide architectural and engineering services, and Paul Hemmer Companies (Fort Mitchell, Kentucky) was selected to provide general construction services for the expansion.
The ZF Boge Elasmetall expansion follows a larger expansion in 2011 by ZF Steering Systems in Florence, Kentucky. ZF Steering Systems underwent a $95.8 million expansion of its existing plant by constructing two buildings totaling 175,000 square feet and creating 374 jobs. ZF Steering Systems manufactures steering components for passenger cars and SUVs. The company added capacity to meet demand for its new electric steering gear.
