Gold’n Plump Poultry to Expand Wisconsin Poultry Complex

Family-owned and operated Gold’n Plump Poultry, Incorporated (Saint Cloud, Minnesota) has plans to expand its poultry-processing complex in Arcadia, Wisconsin. Late last year the company was looking at existing locations in Cold Spring, Minnesota and areas in Wisconsin as possible sites for expansion and decided in February of 2006 to expand the Arcadia complex.

Plans are to invest $38 million to expand the processing plant by 31% and increase throughput capacity to 970,000 birds per week. In order to reach that goal, they will also construct a new $8 million hatchery, expand the feed mill and construct an additional 36 contract grow-out barns. The project will update processing and efficiency with state-of-the-art equipment, add 50 new jobs and increase annual corn and soybean meal purchases. Construction is scheduled to get underway in April of 2006, and all expanded areas are scheduled to be operational by early 2008.
