Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries Incorporated, which is heading up the construction of polypropylene (PP) and propane dehydrogenation (PDH) production complexes, is facing a labor shortage due to COVID-19. After Kazakhstan closed its borders to foreigners at the beginning of March, dozen of Chinese workers attached to the projects could not enter the country.
The new facilities will use Lummus Novolen Technology and produce 500,000 tons of PP and Lummus Catofin Technology to produce 500,000 tons of PDH annually. Both are set to be completed in 2021.
