One Earth Energy Targets June for Illinois Fuel-Ethanol Plant Start-Up Date

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Investor-owned ethanol start-up One Earth Energy LLC (Gibson City, Illinois) is aiming for June 11, 2009, as the first day to grind corn and begin fuel-ethanol production at its new $166 million plant in Gibson City. Contractors are currently performing piping tie-ins, installing wiring and instrumentation, and finishing an office building.

Commissioning and start-up equipment tests are scheduled to be complete by May, and if all equipment and system pass, the plant will perform its first grind as scheduled. Ethanol could begin flowing 50 to 60 days after the initial grind.

The plant was designed and built by ICM Incorporated (Colwich, Kansas) and Fagen Incorporated (Granite Falls, Minnesota). The facility has a nameplate capacity of 100 million gallons per year, but the company is expecting to squeeze an additional 10 million gallons annual capacity from the plant. To run the plant year round, 36 million bushels of corn will be needed.

Grain origin will be handled by local farmer-owned grain-elevator operator Alliance Grain Company (Gibson City). The ethanol will be marketed by Eco-Energy Incorporated (Franklin, Tennessee), and the distillers grains by AgMotion Incorporated (Minneapolis, Minnesota).

The plant is located 25 miles north of Champaign, Illinois, in Ford County at 202 North Jordan Road in Gibson City.
