Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Family owned and operated Fieldale Farms Corporation (Baldwin, Georgia) has begun a major $45 million expansion at its existing poultry processing operation in Gainesville, Georgia. The company plans to switch from outsourcing cooked product production of fried and boneless chicken and start producing the items "in-house" through a building expansion and installation of new fully-cooked production and storage operations at its plant on Monroe Drive in Gainesville.
Fieldale selected Vaughn Coltrane Pharr & Associates (Tucker, Georgia) as the general contractor for the project and currently the pre-cast tilt-up concrete walls are going up at the site. Along with the production area, a new cooler and freezer area for product and feedstock storage will be installed.
The project is expected to take nine to ten months to complete and the company plans to hire an additional 200 employees to operate the new production area.
Fieldale Farms is a family business and has grown to become one of the largest independent poultry producers in the world. The company started operations in the poultry business more than fifty years ago in the countryside of Northeast Georgia and currently has processing plants in Gainesville, Murrayville and Cornelia, Georgia.
