Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Industrial Info is tracking active projects valued at more than $9.5 billion involving construction management firm Turner Construction (New York, New York). Data centers, increasingly important as more people turn to remote communication and e-commerce during the pandemic, represent a substantial portion of Turner's project activity. Among the largest of these projects is Facebook Incorporated's (NASDAQ:FB) (Menlo Park, California) $1 billion data center expansion in Papillion, Nebraska, on the outskirts of Omaha. The project, which kicked off in 2018, involves construction of four additional data hall buildings with a combined area of more than 1.6 million square feet, bringing the total campus to 2.6 million square feet. The project, on which Turner is the general contractor, is expected to be completed in late 2022. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Turner is at work on several other data centers for Facebook, as well companies such as Apple Incorporated (NASDAQ:AAPL) (Cupertino, California) and Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) (Redmond, Washington), including Microsoft's Phase IV construction on its data center in West Des Moines, Iowa. The project entails four data server buildings totaling 256,000 square feet and is expected to be completed later this year. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Among the largest projects on which Turner is involved are those at U.S. airports, including the renovation of the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Arlington, Virginia. The $1.2 billion project kicked off in 2017 and has several aspects, including construction of a new North Concourse, the renovation of 14 gates and three terminals, and construction of a new 1,600-space parking garage. Turner is providing construction management services on the project, which is expected to be completed in late 2023. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Turner also is involved in a series of projects at the Denver International Airport in Colorado that are expected to be completed late next year, including construction of new gates and improvements to the apron pavement. For more information, see Industrial Info's project reports on the Concourse A West Gate expansion, the Concourse B East Gate expansion, the Concourse B West Gate expansion and the Concourse C East Gate expansion.

An automotive project also features in Turner's project portfolio. Toyota Motor Corporation (NYSE:TM) (Toyota City, Japan) is performing equipment additions to its engine-manufacturing facility in Huntsville, Alabama, and Turner is the general contractor. The project includes installing four-cylinder and six-cylinder engine production lines plus supporting equipment and systems to increase production capacity from 670,000 to 900,000 engines per year by 2021. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Turner is at work on more than $3.8 billion worth of Pharmaceutical-Biotech Industry projects, at research facilities and universities across the country. At Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Turner is underway with the Research Site 3 building addition, which entails a 12-story LEED-Gold-certified building of approximately 380,000 square feet. Construction began in the summer of 2019 and is expected to be completed in mid-2021. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

Across the country in Seattle, Washington, Turner is at work on a 14-story building for the Blackstone Group Incorporated's (NYSE:BX) Biomed Realty Trust (San Diego, California). The 550,000-square-foot building will consist mostly of laboratory space for lease to multiple life science and technology-related research and development firms. Construction began in early 2019 and is expected to be completed in 2021. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
