Vestas WTG Mexico SA de CV won the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the project, which will consist of 36 Vestas V100 wind turbine generator sets, each capable of generating 1.95 MW. The windfarm will provide enough electricity for 100,000 homes. It will prevent about 160,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year.
The project is estimated to create about 250 site preparation and construction jobs. About 10 permanent positions will be created for operation and maintenance of the power station.
This project is scheduled to break ground in September, and is slated for full operation at the end of 2015.
