Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Eolica del Golfo I SAPI de CV(Mexico City) and Vive Energia (Mexico City) have begun the construction of a windfarm in the state of Yucatan, Mexico. The power station will be located in the Dzilam de Bravo municipality near the coast. The total estimated value of the project is around $135 million.
Vive Energia (Mexico City) will act as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the windfarm project. Envision Energy (Shanghai, China) will provide cutting edge technology, which will consist of 33 EN110-2.1 wind turbine generator sets. The windfarm will provide about 70 megawatts (MW), and generate enough electricity for approximately 100,000 homes. It will prevent about 160,000 tons of carbon dioxide (C02) emissions a year.
This project will have a significant impact on the state of Yucatan as it will contribute to the development of the renewable energy sector in the region. It is estimated to create about 250 site preparation and construction jobs. About 25 permanent positions will be created for operation and maintenance of the power station.
The windfarm is slated for completion and full operations at the end of 2016 or early 2017.
