HydroChina Completes Feasibility Study for Zhentouba I Hydropower Station

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--On March 17, 2011, HydroChina Engineering Consulting Company Limited, a subsidiary of HydroChina Corporation, held a consultation meeting regarding the feasibility study report for Zhentouba I Hydropower Station in Beijing.

The Zhentouba hydropower station, located in the middle reaches of the Dadu River in the Jinkouhe district of Leshan city, is the 19th hydropower project planned on the mainstream of the Dadu River. The project is comprised of the Zhentouba I and Zhentouba II hydropower stations.

The entire project is comprised of a left bank riverbed powerhouse, a right bank flood discharge gate and concrete gravity dams on both banks. The powerhouse has a total installed capacity of 720 megawatts (MW) with four Kaplan hydraulic turbine generating units, each with a capacity of 180 MW.

Mandated by DHDC, HydroChina Guiyang Engineering Corporation (Guiyang, Guizhou), a regional subsidiary of HydroChina Corporation (Beijing) is responsible for the survey and design of Zhentouba I. In July 2010, Hydropower and Water Resources Planning & Design General Institute (Beijing), with the Sichuan Development and Reform Commission held the examination meeting for the complex portions of the feasibility study report for Zhentouba I.

In November 2010, the Environmental Assessment Center of the Ministry of Environmental Protection held the examination meeting for the Environment Assessment Report for Zhentouba I. Based on the comments of the above examination meetings, HydroChina Guiyang further supplemented and perfected the feasibility study report for Zhentouba I.

After the meeting, the feasibility study report for Zhentouba I will be submitted to the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) for approval. While awaiting approval from the NDRC, the project owner, together with related parties, is working on the site preparation for the project. According to the schedule, construction of the project will be officially kicked off in the fourth quarter of this year.
