Pharmaceutical company Roche has decided to close one of its two global blood glucose test strip facilities, and as a result, will close a manufacturing site in Ponce, Puerto Rico. This process is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2021.

Last year, Roche announced the gradual closure of its final formulations plant in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which may be completed in 2024, as part of a strategy to focus on developing highly complex innovative products in order to maintain the company's financial sustainability.
