Brazil's WEG Wins Contract to Supply Turbines to Aracati Windfarm Complex

Researched by Industrial Info Resources Latin America (Cordoba, Argentina)--Energy equipment manufacturer WEG (Jaragua do Sul, Santa Catarina) will supply 46 AGW 110-2.1 wind turbines for the Aracati windfarm power complex under a contract signed with Alupar (Sao Paulo, Brazil), a subsidiary of the group Alusa (Sao Paulo, Brazil).

The $436.7 million windfarm complex will be located in the Aracati region, in the state of Ceará, Brazil. It will consist of 10 windfarms, with five of them owned by Alupar, and the other five by Furnas (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil).

The contract that was awarded to WEG includes the 46 2.1-megawatt (MW) turbines, the mechanical assembly, commissioning and 10 years of operation and maintenance. The start-up is expected in early 2016.

The five windfarms owned by Furnas have 2-MW, model IWP100 turbines, provided by IMPSA.
