Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The site preparation kick-off ceremony for China Huadian Corporation's (Beijing) 2,000-megawatt (MW) Ankang coal-fired power plant was held in Ankang City on August 28, 2012, according to an announcement from China Huadian Corporation on August 30.
The Huadian Ankang plant, which is located in Hechi Town, Shiquan County of Ankang City, in northwest China's Shaanxi province, is a key energy construction project both in the nation's 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015) and the provincial development plan for the Shaanxi province. The project is jointly invested by Huadian Shaanxi Energy and Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Group Company Limited (Xian, Shaanxi).
The project has a total planned capacity of 4,000 MW. Two 1,000-MW, ultra-supercritical, coal-fired units, together with associated environmental protection facilities, will be built in Phase I with a total investment of about $1.2 billion. Electricity generated from the project will be directly transmitted to the Chongqing grid.
Since receiving preliminary approval from the National Development and Reform Commission to kick off pre-stage preparation for the project in May 2012, the government of Ankang City and China Huadian Corporation have established special working teams to promote the implementation of the project. Because it is the largest investment project in the history of Shiquan County, implementing the project will have importance in promoting the clean energy industry development and structural adjustment; the optimization in resource deployment; and the merging of Ankang into the Chongqing-Chengdu economic zone.
Presently, the government of Ankang City and China Huadian Corporation are working closely in getting final approval for the project. According to the schedule, construction of the project will kick off in December 2012.
Among the leaders and representatives who attended the kick-off ceremony were Xu Qifang, the deputy mayor of Ankang City, and Luo Zhenxin, the vice president of Huadian Shaanxi Energy Company Limited (Xian, Shaanxi).
