Syncrude Canada Limited, in early April 2020, will conduct a 50-day, planned maintenance turnaround for the 80,000-BBL/d Coker 8-2 at its 265,000-BBL/d Mildred Lake Oil Sands Upgrader and Refinery located in Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada.
Marathon Petroleum Corporation restarted the 75,000-BBL/d Ultraformer 3 on November 12 at its 437,000-BBL/d Galveston Bay Refinery located in Texas City, Texas.
CVR Energy Incorporated was forced to shut down its entire 70,000-BBL/d Wynnewood, Oklahoma, refinery on November 11, after severe weather caused an electrical power outage. Plant personnel are in the process of restarting the units, with expectations that the facility will resume normal operations within the next 24 to 48 hours.
International
Byco Petroleum Pakistan Limited has rescheduled a 35-day, refinery-wide, planned turnaround at its 120,000-BBL/d Mouza Kund Refinery 2 in Pakistan. Previously, the turnaround for six major units was scheduled to start on October 15, but is now tentatively set for February 15, 2020. Expectations are to complete repairs and restart the plant by March 20.
Turkish Petroleum Refineries Corporation is on schedule for a planned maintenance turnaround for the 90,500-BBL/d Crude 100 unit at its 226,300-BBL/d Izmir Refinery in Turkey. The 1-month turnaround is expected to kick off in early December.
Midland Refineries Company (MRC) successfully restarted the 70,000-BBL/d Crude Distillation Unit 4 (New CDU 1) on October 21 at its 185,000-BBL/d Daurah Refinery in Iraq. The unit had been under a planned maintenance shutdown since October 5. Previously, the 30-day turnaround was scheduled for November 3, but was accelerated due to political unrest in the region.
