Officials: North Dakota Oil Output May Peak Within Five Years
- North Dakota's oil production may peak within five years as companies finish drilling the most prolific portions of the state's oil patch, state and industry officials told lawmakers Tuesday. Mineral Resources Director Lynn Helms, the state's top oil regulator, said about 20% of drilling activity is now outside of the "core" areas of the western North Dakota's oil producing region. (Houston Chronicle)

EIA: U.S. Natural Gas Output, Demand to Decline in 2021 - U.S. natural gas production and demand will decline in 2021 after hitting record highs this year, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) said in its Short Term Energy Outlook on Tuesday. The EIA projected dry gas production will fall to 92.57 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) in 2021 from a record 94.16 Bcf/d in 2020. The EIA also projected U.S. gas consumption would fall to 85.60 Bcf/d in 2021 from a record 86.24 Bcf/d in 2020 due mostly to reduced power demand as renewables produce more electricity. (Reuters)
