EIA: U.S. Power Use to Drop More than 2% in 2020 - U.S. electricity consumption will decline 2.4% in 2020 as coronavirus lockdowns cause businesses to close, the U.S. Energy Information Administration said on Wednesday in its Short Term Energy Outlook. EIA projected power demand will drop to 3,802 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) in 2020 from 3,896 billion kWh in 2019 before easing to 3,801 billion kWh in 2021. (Reuters)

Ohio Oil & Gas Production Down in Second Quarter - Ohio natural gas production dipped 2.1% in the second quarter 2020, while oil production fell by 11.97% from first-quarter 2020. Those results were contained within a new Utica Shale production report filed by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. The gas production total dropped from 614.2 billion cubic feet of natural gas in second-quarter 2019 to 569.4 billion cubic feet in second-quarter 2020, a 7.3% drop. Ohio's total oil production slid from 5,813,755 barrels in second-quarter 2019 to 5,182,481 barrels in second-quarter 2020, or 10.9%. (Kallanish Energy)
