VAMCO-20 strengthened into a typhoon today; it is expected to be the third typhoon to hit the Philippines in recent days.
With maximum winds of 125 kilometers per hour (78 miles per hour), VAMCO-20 is expected to make landfall on the country's eastern coastline Wednesday evening, bringing torrential rainfall and storm surges. It is expected to exit the Philippines by early Thursday morning, from the western part of mainland Luzon.
