PRODUCTION
U.S. Moves to Loosen Safety Rules Around Arctic Ocean Oil Drilling - The Trump administration on Thursday proposed to loosen Obama-era safety regulations for the oil industry in the Arctic Ocean off Alaska to ease the way for petroleum extraction in the region. The proposal would revise a suite of Obama-era rules crafted to improve safety in the extreme conditions of the Arctic after a Shell drilling rig ran aground there in 2012. The company later abandoned oil exploration in the region, and there are no active drilling operations there. (Reuters)
China's Sinopec Aims to Produce More than 30 Bcm of Natural Gas in 2020 - China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (NYSE:SNP), or Sinopec, said on Thursday it plans to produce more than 30 billion cubic metres (Bcm) of natural gas in 2020, marking an increase of just 1.1% from its output in 2019. The company's gas production in 2019 was at 29.67 Bcm, a jump of 7.2% from the prior year. (Reuters)

U.S. Court Allows Equitrans to Keep Building Mountain Valley Pipeline - The U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals rejected a motion to stay a permit for the Mountain Valley natural gas pipeline from West Virginia to Virginia. Analysts said that the court decision increases the odds that Equitrans Midstream Corporation (NYSE:ETRN) can put the long-delayed project into service in the second half of 2021.
