EIA: U.S. Shale Output to Drop to 7.44 Million Barrels per Day in January - U.S. oil output from shale formations is expected to decline by about 136,000 barrels per day (BBL/d) in January to 7.44 million BBL/d, the lowest since June, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said in a monthly forecast on Monday. Output at nearly all seven major formations is expected to fall, except from the Haynesville region, where output is forecast to remain largely flat. The biggest decline is expected to come from the Permian basin of Texas and New Mexico, where production is forecast to drop by about 44,000 BBL/d to 4.2 million BBL/d. (Reuters)
North Dakota Oil Production Holds Steady in October at 1.2 Million Barrels per Day - North Dakota oil production was just over 1.2 million BBL/d in October, holding near its strongest levels since the coronavirus pandemic began to curtail output in the state's Bakken shale field, a state official said on Monday. The state's crude oil output sat at 1.22 million BBL/d in October, a 0.02% decline from the prior month, North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources Director Lynn Helms said at a monthly briefing. Study: U.S. Solar Sector Surges Despite Pandemic - U.S. solar installations are expected to soar 43% this year, just shy of a pre-pandemic forecast, as the industry has recovered more quickly than expected from a virus-related slowdown, according to a report by the top solar trade group. The sector is now expected to install more than 19 gigawatts (GW) of solar this year, enough to power more than 3.6 million homes, according to the U.S. Solar Energy Industries Association and energy research firm Wood Mackenzie. Last year it installed 13.3 GW of capacity. (Reuters)
