Cerro Dominador Inversiones SpA, a subsidiary of U.S.-based EIG Global Energy Partners, is in the final stages of completion and commissioning of its 110-megawatt Dominador Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plant, which is under construction in the Atacama Desert in Chile's Antofagasta region.
Construction on the plant, which has a Doosan-Skoda Power steam turbine generator set and Abengoa CSP technology, started during the third quarter of 2017, and was planned to start operations in 2020. However, after a tower fire in 2019, commercial operations are expected in February 2021. It will be the first operational, full-scale CSP power plant in Latin America.
Industrial Info is tracking an additional eight active CSP projects under development in Chile and Brazil worth $5 billion. Click here for a list.
