Marathon yesterday, May 4, experienced a hydrofluoric acid (HF) release on the 31,500-BBL/d HF Alky 3 at its 437,000-BBL/d Galveston Bay Refinery in Texas City, Texas, which prompted a shelter-in-place for the surrounding community that was later rescinded. The same unit had been down for planned maintenance from April 2 to April 27. It is not known at this time if plant operations were affected.
