LyondellBasell, on August 3, restarted its 2.6 billion-pound-per-year QE1 Ethylene Cracker in La Porte, Texas. The unit was unexpectedly shut down on June 26.
Dow Chemical, on August 3, began a 60-day maintenance turnaround of its approximately 2.6 billion-pound-per-year LHC-1 Ethylene Unit in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. The unit is expected to restart in late September.
International
SABIC Europe shut down its entire Geleen Chemical Complex in the Netherlands around July 20 due to a lack of feedstock. The naphtha pipeline that supplies the complex has been damaged by to flooding, and repairs are tentatively scheduled to be completed at the end of August.
Chiba Chemicals Manufacturing LLP, a joint venture with Mitsui Chemical Incorporated and Idemitsu Kosan Company Limited, restarted the approximately 1.2 billion-pound-per-year ethylene unit and 749.57 million-pound-per-year propylene unit, on August 4, at its Ichihara Chiba Chemical Complex in Japan. The unit was shut down on June 13 for a 53-day planned turnaround.
PetroIneos Manufacturing Scotland Limited started a planned maintenance shutdown of the 1.2 billion-pound-per-year Ethylene KG Unit, at the end of July, at its Grangemouth Olefins and Polymers Plant in the U.K. Completion is expected around mid-September.
