Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Since a statute limiting the export of bovine meat by 50% has come into force in Argentina, many slaughtering plants that dedicate most of their production to exports have been forced to reduce their production rate--in some cases to 40% of capacity.
As a consequence, many projects have been postponed by a couple of years while they await the market´s recovery. A few companies have decided to keep investing, but not in the short term and only when the country reopens for exports.
The Instituto de la Promocion de la Carne Vacuna Argentina in its last report (August) stated that bovine meat exports have reached a value of approximately US$240.1 million, just 2.4% below the same period last year. Sales were up 24.8% against July 2021 but had fallen 13.9% below August 2020.
